Prescriptions
What states can you prescribe in?
Can I use my own local pharmacy?
Yes, you can use your local pharmacy! After your appointment, let our vet know your preferred pharmacy and we'll send the prescription there. You can also use online pet pharmacies like Chewy.
Our pharmacy partner (Blue Rabbit) is available if you prefer home delivery, but it's not required.
How do I access my prescription/records?
All your visit summaries, prescriptions, and pet records are stored in your secure dashboard. Log in at virtualvetdoc.com/login to access them.
If you can't find something or need help, contact us at info@virtualvetdoc.com.
Can your vets prescribe medication?
Yes, our licensed veterinarians can prescribe and refill medications after seeing your pet in a virtual appointment. Medications can be shipped directly to you through our pharmacy partner or we can send to your local pharmacy of choice.
Please note: our veterinarians can currently prescribe medications in: California, Arizona, Idaho, Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey, Vermont, and Florida. As more states expand virtual vet care, our doctors are currently providing consultations, second opinions and guidance.
Can I get a refill without another appointment?
For safety and legal reasons, refills typically require a follow-up consultation to ensure the medication is still appropriate for your pet's condition.
However, if your pet was recently seen and needs the same prescription, contact us at info@virtualvetdoc.com — we may be able to assist without a full appointment.
