Martina Lucas, DVM

Pet parent to Daya and Rory

Experience

I bring more than 15 years of experience treating animals, first as a veterinary technician in my native Bratislava, Slovakia and then in multiple animal hospitals and clinics in California. I attended the University of Veterinary Medicine in Košice, Slovakia in a six-year program for my DVM. I also completed a one-year clinical rotation at Louisiana State University. Today, I continue advanced study in canine rehabilitation through University of Tennessee - Knoxville and small animal acupuncture through the Chi Institute in Florida.

Special interests

My soft spot is for geriatric animals. I focus on pain management, mobility support and prevention/treatment of obesity and management of chronic disease. I also enjoy behavior, training and proper socialization of puppies. Additional interests include integrative approaches such as acupuncture, herbal medicine and rehabilitation therapy. I am a member of the American Association of Veterinary Acupuncturists (AAVA). Dental procedures and pre- and post-surgical care are also special areas of practice. I have also served as a volunteer surgeon for World Vets, at both a high-volume spay & neuter clinic and providing free services to underserved communities.

Pet Parent

I am a pet parent to a Hovawart named Daya and a Chihuahua mix named Rory.

Why virtual vet care?

I can deliver high-quality care, supporting clients through virtual consultations, and integrating my expertise in both Western and Eastern medicine to provide comprehensive solutions for patients. Because I am trilingual (English, Czech and Slovak), I also welcome pet parents who are more comfortable communicating in these languages.
